What we did last winter??!!!

The question may sound a bit like the Hollywood movie 'I know what you did last summer' but it has got lot more to the meaning than simple connection with the movie's name. It is a question which every youth of Maharashtra and Mumbai should ask themselves if not in public then atleast somewhere behind the closed doors with open minds. The question which I intend to ask to the youth is What they did last winter? when our Maharashtra state police and NSG lost some brave and courageous officers who without even giving a second thought sacrificed their lives for the safety and security of millions of Mumbaikars.
Normally the period of November-December is filled with joy to its maximum as christmas and youth festivals are round the corner. It is a period when every college student wants to participate actively in youth festivals as they help the youth in nurturing their hidden talents and more attractions to such events are DJs, fashion shows, and events like sports. But even the terrorists found this period of the year more appealing to them for an attack on Mumbai, may be because even they wished to see how the so-called Indian youth would react to these attacks. But I feel the terrorists would be more than happy to see that even after having lost such honourable officers of the nation in the worst terrorist atack on the nation, Mumbai youth still continued to demand their college authorities to grant permisssion for the youth festivals just because they could not be cancelled at the last moment when everything was almost ready and even the fear of losing out sponsor's money. So it was convenient for the committee heads to give it a more of a devotional touch without making much changes in the events like DJs, fashion shows, and sports which did nothing to serve the purpose of nationalism.
Many organisations, NGOs and even the student wings opposed the idea of a festival when the families of those dead were mourning. But to majority of youths it was just another attack on Mumbai.
It is really shameful on our part that we as so-called educated class and the youth of the most prestigous city in this nation behave in this manner. India is known throughout the world because it has the power of the youth to make it the most powerful nation in the Indian sub-continent and if we show such a sign of irresponsibility and insensitiveness...I doubt next time our nation is attacked, no security forces would show willingness to carry out operations as they might be low on morale.
It is high time that we as youth of this great nation do something atleast to make our security personnels feel that even we care for them and we do stand by them and their families whenever they need us to. JAI HIND...!!!

Kargil- The Afterburns!!!

On this special occasion of having completed 10 years after winning over the Tiger hill (pt 4897) and Tololing (pt 5140) back from Pakistani intruders, an article saluting the Indian soldiers, irrespective of their regiments, who fought the enemy fearlessly even after being at a disadvantageous position. But there remains concerns about the attitude of common Indian man and the government, which needs to be much focussed on.
We Indians, over the decade, are known to be insensitive towards sacrifices of our NATIONAL HEROES-in the true sense of the word-THE INDIAN SOLDIERS and not our BOLLYWOOD STARS! Thousands of officers and jawans sacrifised their lives for India's integrity but till date most of them are deprived of even the basic facilities from the government. The Indian media and the common man seem to find Bollywood affairs and Cricket affairs more interesting than the sensitive issue of our Indian soldiers which is also hardly highlighted. No one in the country deserves a place of honour than the Indian soldiers who inspite of extreme geographical and climatic conditions are working 24*7 to serve their motherland.
The time wasted by Indian bureaucrats in negotiating with Pakistan over the useless Baluchistan issue should be utilised in providing more facilities to the Indian soldiers who are stationed on the borders and better food, arms, ammunitions should be provided to increase their confidence on the government.
The basic education imparted to school going children in india says--
KASHMIR to the north......KANYAKUMARI to the south......ARABIAN SEA to the west....and BAY OF BENGAL to the east...
But if the government and the people of Republic of India remain insensitive towards the sacrifices of Indian soldiers, a day would come when students in India would learn--
AZAD KASHMIR to the north....LTTE to the south....PAKISTAN to the northwest....TALIBAN to the west....BANGLADESH to the east....NAXALITES within the country and CHINA over us...
Its high time that the Indian government should initiate COMPULSORY MILITARY EDUCATION throughout the nation, like our neighbour China, and inculcate sensitivness and responsivness among the Indians towards India and its defence forces.
Hoping for the best in the future, let us remember those who fought the war and worked hard to make it a point to save India's integrity. JAI HIND...!!
